## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

STUDENT PILOT ,PIC, STATED THAT HE PLANNED TO FLY THE PATTERN ON RUNWAY 24 AT BROOKHAVEN (KHWV) AIRPORT. THE PILOT STATES THAT ON THE SECOND LANDING HE FLARED TOO HIGH, STALLED AND LANDED HARD AND CONTINUED TO BOUNCE DOWN THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED A GO-AROUND BUT SWERVED LEFT STRIKING A SNOW BANK ON THE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA15CA126](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA15CA126), Feb 7, 2015: Cessna 152 (N5416B), Shirley, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's initiation of the flare while too high above the runway, resulting in an aerodynamic stall, hard landing, and loss of directional control.

## Other reports on N5416B (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19900203029739I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900203029739I), Feb 3, 1990: Cessna 152 (N5416B), Albany, NY. Had problems locating runway. Controller phraseology non-standard. Landed without tower contact.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
