## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

SHORTLY AFTER TOUCH DOWN THE PILOT REPORTED A STRONG LEFT CROSSWIND AND A SIGNIFICIANT YAW TO THE RIGHT. THE PILOT NOTED THAT THE WIND SOCK DID NOT INDICATE THE CROSSWIND. THE PILOT APPLIED FULL RIGHT RUDDER AND POWER IN AN ATTEMPT TO ARREST THE YAW AND INITIATED A GO-AROUND. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE CROSSWIND, ENGINE TORQUE AND P FACTOR CAUSED THE RIGHT WING TO CONTACT THE RUNWAY AT WHICH TIME THE POWER WAS REDUCED. THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND EXITED THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT AND NOSED OVER IN THE SOFT DIRT. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON THE LEFT WING, LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR AND ENGINE COWLING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR15CA102](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR15CA102), Feb 11, 2015: Cessna 185 - E (N185NV), Carson City, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing with a crosswind which resulted in a ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
