## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED HE FLEW OVER THE CANYON AT 800 FT. AGL HEADING NORTH. HE THEN FLEW A LOW PASS (APPROXIMATELY 120 FT AGL) FROM NORTH TO SOUTH IN ORDER TO VIEW A CABIN AT THE SOUTH END OF THE CANYON. DURING THE LOW PASS THE LEFT WING STRUCK AN UNMARKED POWER LINE STRETCHING FROM THE BLUFF TO THE VALLEY FLOOR. THE AIRCRAFT THEN REQUIRED LARGE RIGHT RUDDER INPUT BUT WOULD NOT FLY STRAIGHT. THE PILOT PERFORMED AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FIELD, WHERE, UPON TOUCHDOWN, THE NOSE WHEEL SANK IN THE MUD AND SHEARED OFF. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP. THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

DAMAGE WAS NOTED ALONG THE LEFT WING LEADING EDGE OUTBOARD OF THE FUEL TANK TO THE WING TIP. DAMAGE WAS ALSO NOTED TO THE PROPELLER AND ENGINE MOUNT IN ADDITION TO THE NOSE GEAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR15CA107](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR15CA107), Feb 15, 2015: Piper PA28 - 180 (N7928W), Garfield, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot did not maintain clearance from a power line while maneuvering at a low altitude.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
