## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS LAST PAINTED, APPROXIMATELY 2002, PAINT WAS APPLIED TO THE TO CONTROL CABLES WITHIN THE WHEEL WELL AREA, AND NOT REMOVED.

THE LANDING GEAR DOWN-LOCK CABLE(S) BECAME CORRODED INTERNALLY OVER TIME.

ON APPROACH TO LANDING THE PILOT PLACED THE LANDING GEAR IN THE DOWN POSITION.

THE LANDING GEAR DOWNLOCK MECHANISM CABLE FAILED ON THE RIGHT, MAIN LANDING GEAR.

THE PILOT'S INDICATION WAS THAT THE LEFT MAIN AND NOSE LANDING GEAR WERE SAFELY LOCKED DOWN. HOWEVER, THE RIGHT MAIN INDICATED AN UNSAFE CONDITION.

AFTER A LOW APPROACH AND A VFR PATTERN, SAN JOSE TOWER PERSONNEL AND A PILOT IN ANOTHER AIRCRAFT IN THE PATTERN BOTH REPORTED THAT THE MISHAP AIRCRAFT'S LANDING GEAR "APPEARED" TO HAVE ALL 3 LANDING GEAR DOWN.

THE PILOT PERFORMED A VFR PATTERN TO LANDING ON RUNWAY 30 LEFT AT SAN JOSE AIRPORT (KSJC).

DURING ROLLOUT, APPROXIMATELY 1500 FEET AFTER TOUCHDOWN THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED CAUSING THE RIGHT ENGINE PROPELLER TO STRIKE THE GROUND AND MINOR DAMAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE RIGHT WING COMPONENTS.

THE AIRCRAFT VEERED RIGHT AND CAME TO REST WITH THE RIGHT WING OFF THE PAVED SURFACE (THE MAJORITY OF THE AIRCRAFT AND LEFT WING WERE STILL ON THE PAVED SURFACE).

THE PILOT COMPLETED THE AIRCRAFT SHUTDOWN CHECKLIST, HE AND THE TWO PASSENGERS THEN EVACUATED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT, DAMAGE OR INJURY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
