## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED THAT ON SATURDAY MARCH 7, 2015 AT OR AROUND 1330 CST, HE DEPARTED THE FREDERICKTOWN, MISSOURI AIRPORT (H88) ON A FERRY FLIGHT TO 3K6 IN ORDER TO HAVE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 13 AT THE 3K6 AIRPORT, HE FOUND HIMSELF IN AN UNSTABLE LANDING APPROACH AND ELECTED TO INITIATE A GO-AROUND. UPON APPLYING FULL POWER, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY QUIT. HE MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A MUDDY ADJACENT CORNFIELD JUST SOUTH OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANIAL DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING, FIREWALL AND ENGINE MOUNT. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS UNINJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN15LA177](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN15LA177), Mar 7, 2015: Ercoupe 415 C (N87EV), St Jacob, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power during the go-around due to fuel contamination.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
