## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT RECEIVED WEATHER FROM THE SGU AIRPORT LOCATED 12NM AWAY REPORTING WINDS OUT OF THE WEST AT ONLY 3-4KTS. AIRPORT 1L8, HURRICANE, UTAH, IS NEAR A LINE OF CLIFFS WHICH CAN ALTER WIND PATTERNS SIGNIFICANTLY. PILOT EXPERIENCED A GUST OF WIND AS HE WAS TOUCHING DOWN, CAUSING HIM TO GO OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF RWY 19, WHICH IS 40 FEET WIDE. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO LEFT WING, LANDING GEAR, AND PROPELLER.

POLICE AND FIRE PERSONNEL REPORTED IT WAS VERY WINDY AND GUSTY, AS WELL AS THE WIND SOCK WAS STRAIGHT OUT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA004](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA004), Mar 9, 2015: Cirrus Design SR22 (N949WB), Hurricane, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
