## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MARCH 10, 2015 AT 07:41 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME (EDT), A CESSNA 208-B AIRCRAFT, N12153, REGISTERED TO AERO LEASING INC. AND OPERATED BY A COMMERCIAL PILOT FOR MARTINAIRE AVIATION LLC. (MT9A) RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WHEN IT STRUCK THE 800FT AND 600FT MEDIUM INTENSITY APPROACH LIGHTING SYSTEM WITH RUNWAY ALIGNMENT INDICATOR LIGHTS (MALSR) APPROACH LIGHTS WHILE MANEUVERING TO LAND FROM THE ILS RWY 24 APPROACH.

INSTRUMENT METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND LIGHT WINDS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. THE COMMERCIAL FLIGHT WAS BEING CONDUCTED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF TITLE 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS (CFR) PART 135 WITH A FLIGHT PLAN. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED FROM CAPITAL REGIONAL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, LANSING, MI AT APPROXIMATELY 07:00 EDT.

ACCORDING TO THE PILOT HE WAS FLYING THE ILS 24 APPROACH COUPLED TO THE AUTO PILOT. UPON REACHING THE DECISION HEIGHT OF 200FT HE SAW THE APPROACH LIGHTS AND DISCONNECTED THE AUTOPILOT. HE CONTINUED TO 100 FEET WHERE HE SAW THE RUNWAY TERMINATION BARS BUT WAS RIGHT OF CENTERLINE. WHILE CORRECTING TO CENTERLINE HE FELT THE AIRCRAFT STRIKE THE APPROACH LIGHTS AND THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO SETTLE TO THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE RUNWAY AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 1,000FT FIXED DISTANCE MARKERS, LEFT OF CENTER LINE. SKID MARKS FROM THE BELLY POD AND THE TIRES WERE CLEARLY VISIBLE ON THE RUNWAY.

WEATHER AT KMKG AIRPORT AT 07:55 WAS: WIND 180 DEGREES AT 9KNOTS, VISIBILITY .1/2 STATUTE MILES, 200 OVERCAST, TEMP 35 DEW POINT 33 AND ALTIMETER 3003.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA005](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA005), Mar 10, 2015: Cessna 208B (N12155), Muskegon, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper decision to continue the landing when the airplane was not in a safe position to land, resulting in the collision with ground-based approach lighting.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
