## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT DEPARTED 3NO ENROUTE TO STJ. AFTER AIRCRAFT CLIMBED TO 7500 FEET MSL, THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LEAN ENGINE USING NORMAL PROCEDURES AND THE ENGINE BEGAN RUNNING ROUGH. PILOT ENRICHED THE MIXTURE AND THE ENGINE SMOOTHED OUT SO PILOT CONTINUED THE FLIGHT. JUST NORTH OF STJ, PILOT DESCENDED TO 1500 AGL TO OBSERVE SOME PROPERTY HE OWNED. WHEN POWER WAS ADDED TO MAINTAIN ALTITUDE, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN ROUGHER THAN BEFORE SO HE DECIDED TO MAKE A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING IN A BEAN FIELD. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND AND STOP THE AIRCRAFT IN A SHORT DISTANCE, BUT EXCESSIVE BRAKING CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO NOSE OVER ONTO ITS BACK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
