## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT REPORTED THAT UPON LANDING THE PLANE THE TAILWHEEL STARTED TO SHIMMY FOR ABOUT 1 TO 2 SECONDS. WHEN THE SHIMMY STOPPED THE PLANE TURNED TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO TAXI BACK TO THE RAMP, WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE PLANE. A INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT FOUND THAT THE LINKAGE TO THE TAILWHEEL HAD FAILED.

THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED BY REPLACING THE RIVETS IN THE LINKAGE. THE AIRCRAFT RECORDS SHOWN AFTER THAT THE PLANE WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.

A SEARCH OF THE SERVICE DIFFICULTY REPORTING SITE DID NOT SHOW ANY OTHER REPORTS OF THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM, FOR THE PT-19.

- [Incident 20160213001312I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20160213001312I), Feb 13, 2016: Fairchild PT-19 (N50808), Houston, TX, Minor damage. N50808 was taxing out for a local flight to taxiway bravo. While still between the hangers the pilot appeared to be tracking just left of the yellow center…

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
