## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING LANDING ROLLOUT ON RWY 4 AT CDI AIRPORT DURING WINDY CONDITIONS, THE AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED A GUST OF WIND FROM THE NORTHWEST. THE PILOT HAD PROPER CONTROL INPUTS, HOWEVER THE WIND CAUSED THE LEFT WING TO RAISE AND MAKE THE AIRCRAFT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE PILOT ADDED POWER TO RECOVER THE AIRCRAFT. AFTER POWER WAS ADDED, THE MAIN WHEELS BECAME AIRBORNE AND THE TAILWHEEL WAS DRAGGING ON THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT REMAINED UNCONTROLLABLE, VEERED OFF TO THE LEFT OF THE RUNWAY AND CAME TO A STOP INVERTED IN A DITCH TO THE LEFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN15CA196](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN15CA196), Apr 11, 2015: Aeronca 7AC (N85664), Cambridge, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane while encountering a wind gust after landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
