## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APRIL 14, 2015, A SOCATA TBM700 AIRPLANE, N850WM, SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE DURING AN ATTEMPTED LANDING AT THE EVART MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (9C8) RUNWAY 24. THE AIRPLANE IMPACTED THE RUNWAY WITH THE GEAR UP FOLLOWING A FAILURE OF THE PILOT TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR HANDLE. AFTER IMPACTING THE RUNWAY, THE CERTIFICATED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR (CFI) WHO WAS PROVIDING INSTRUCTION CONTINUED FLIGHT AND LANDED AT THE BIG RAPIDS, ROBEN-HOOD AIRPORT (RQB) LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 16 MILES AWAY. THE DAMAGE INCLUDED, BUT WAS NOT LIMITED TO THE PROPELLER, LOWER FUSELAGE AND FLAP TRACK ASSEMBLIES.

LEADING UP TO THE ACCIDENT, THE CFI AND PILOT STATED THEY HAD COMPLETED TWO PREVIOUS LANDINGS EACH WITH A DIFFERENT FLAP SETTING. DURING THIS LAST APPROACH, THE CFI WAS PROVIDING INSTRUCTION ON A ZERO FLAP LANDING. THE CFI AS THE FLYING PILOT FAILED TO COMPLETE THE LANDING CHECKLIST, RESULTING IN A FAILURE TO LOWER THE GEAR HANDLE. THE GEAR WARNING HORN DID NOT SOUND. THE PILOT STATED HE HEARD THE NOISE OF THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTING THE RUNWAY AND APPLIED POWER TO INITIATE AN ABORTED LANDING AND RESUMED FLIGHT.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED TO THE TWO OCCUPANTS WHICH INCLUDED THE CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR AND A COMMERCIAL PILOT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, WINDS WERE CALM.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN15LA219](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN15LA219), Apr 14, 2015: Socata TBM700 (N850WM), Evart, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to follow the Before Landing checklist and to extend the landing gear and the flight instructor’s inadequate supervision, which resulted in a gear-up landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
