## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 04/18/15 AT APPROXIMATELY 1650 LOCAL TIME, N9299U, A CESSNA 150M, WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 26 AT THE LEWIS LANDING AIRPORT(NK79). THE AIRCRAFT HAD A HARD LANDING AND COLLAPSED THE NOSE WHEEL. THIS CAUSED THE PROPELLER AND LEFT WING TO STRIKE THE TURF. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT INCLUDED THE NOSEWHEEL, AIRCRAFT ENGINE MOUNT, FIREWALL, LEFT WING ROOT, AND LEFT WING TIP.

THE AIRMEN STATED THAT ON RETURN TO HIS HOME FIELD HE OVER FLEW THE FIELD TO CHECK THE WIND DIRECTION. HE SET UP ON DOWNWIND AND REALIZED ON FINAL APPROACH THAT HE WAS HIGH. HE TRIED TO CORRECT AND CONTINUED THE APPROACH. UPON TOUCHING DOWN HE BOUNCED AND ADDED POWER TO CORRECT. WHEN HE CAME BACK DOWN, HE LANDED ON THE NOSE WHEEL CAUSING IT TO COLLAPSE. THIS RESULTED IN THE STRIKE OF THE PROPELLER AND LEFT WING BEFORE COMING TO A STOP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA044](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA044), Apr 18, 2015: Cessna 150M (N9299U), Slate Hill, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain an adequate descent rate, resulting in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
