## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING TAKE OFF, WHILE STILL IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN, THE PILOT NOTICED A WHITE SMOKE COMING OUT FROM BEHIND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THAT SMELLED ELECTRICAL. HE THEN DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND TURNED ON SHORT FINAL TO GET BACK TO THE RUNWAY. THE ENGINE THROTTLE WOULD NOT CLOSE BELOW 1500 RPM. HE STATED THAT HE WAS DISTRACTED WITH ALL THAT WAS GOING ON AND FAILED TO PUT THE GEAR DOWN.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES, NO POST FIRE, AND NO DAMAGE TO OTHER PERSONAL PROPERTY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
