## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 4/28/2015, THE LOUISVILLE FSDO WAS INFORMED OF AN ACCIDENT THAT OCCURRED ON 4/21/2015 INVOLVING A HARD LANDING ON RUNWAY 23 AT KAAS IN GUSTY CROSSWINDS. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE PULLED THE ENGINE POWER BACK JUST PRIOR TO LANDING AND THE AIRCRAFT STALLED BETWEEN 3 AND 5 FEET ABOVE THE RUNWAY. ALL 3 LANDING GEAR, THE FIRE WALL, AND THE NOSE GEAR ATTACH STRUCTURE WERE DAMAGED. DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER INDICATED A HIGH POWER SETTING AT IMPACT. THERE WAS NO POST CRASH FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA054](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA054), Apr 21, 2015: Bellanca 1730 - A (N9523E), Campbellsville, KY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper landing flare which resulted in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
