## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

STUDENT PILOT CLAIMS TO HAVE HAD A PARTIAL LOSS IN POWER DURING INITIAL CLIMBOUT OUT OF SCD AT 1000 FEET AGL. HE RE-ENTERED THE TRAFFIC PATTERN AT SCD, BUT OVERSHOT THE RUNWAY ON FINAL APPROACH. DURING THE GO AROUND, THE STUDENT PILOT CLAIMED AN ADDITIONAL LOSS OF POWER AND MANEUVERED FOR AN OFF FIELD LANDING. DURING THE EMERGENCY LANDING THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A POWER LINE AT APPROXIMATELY 30 FEET OFF THE GROUND AND THEN CAME TO A STOP 271 FEET FURTHER WITH THE NOSE AT A 200 DEGREE HEADING. THE PROPELLER, WINGS, NOSE WHEEL GEAR AND LEFT HAND MAIN LANDING GEAR WERE SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA15LA200](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA15LA200), Apr 27, 2015: Diamond Aircraft Ind DA 20 C1 (N248ME), Sylacauga, AL, substantial damage. Probable cause: A partial loss of engine power due to the failure of the throttle body/fuel metering unit to provide the engine with adequate fuel pressure for full power operation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
