## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE ENGINE ON THIS AIRCRAFT QUIT RUNNING, DURING CRUISE, AFTER HAVING FLOWN FOR APPROX. 2 HOURS. ENROUTE FROM ILLINOIS VALLEY - MEDFORD - TO SISTERS, OR. THE PILOT APPLIED CARB HEAT, SELECTED RIGHT TANK AND ATTEMPTED A RESTART WITHOUT SUCCESS. PILOT WAS FORCED TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING ONTO A NARROW MOUNTAIN ROAD BUT SHORTLY AFTER TOUCHDOWN, RIGHT WING IMPACTED A TREE WHICH TURNED AIRCRAFT 90 DEGREES INTO ADDITIONAL TREES CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH WINGS. PASSENGER SUSTAINED A MINOR CUT ON HER ARM BUT PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

POST ACCIDENT (ON SCENE) START OF ENGINE WAS SUCCESSFUL WITH RIGHT TANK SELECTED.

SUBSEQUENT TEAR-DOWN INSPECTION OF FUEL SYSTEM REVEALED MINOR AMOUNT OF DEBRIS IN FUEL TANK SCREENS BUT NO BLOCKAGE WAS FOUND IN PLUMBING, STAINER, OR SELECTOR VALVE. NO OTHER CAUSE OF POWER LOSS WAS DETERMINED.
