## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT TOOK OFF FROM SWAINSBORO AIRPORT (SBO), AND AT 2500' PILOT COULD NOT ACHIEVE MORE THAN 2100 RPM. SHORTLY AFTER PILOT NOTICED OIL TEMP RISING QUICKLY AND OIL STARTED SPRAYING WINDSCREEN. PILOT SET UP FOR A LANDING ON DIRT ROAD AND AS AIRCRAFT WAS DESCENDING OIL TEMP WENT UP TO 250 DEGREES AND OIL PRESSURE STARTED DROPPING. AIRCRAFT WAS SLOWED TO 100 KNOTS AND PUT FLAPS TO FULL. PILOT NOTICED POWER LINES AND QUICKLY DIVERTED TO THE RIGHT TO A CLEAR FIELD. PILOT MADE A SHARP LEFT TURN AND THE LEFT GEAR HIT THE DIRT AND CART WHEELED THE AIRCRAFT PUTTING THE AIRCRAFT UPSIDE DOWN APPROXIMATELY 50 TO 60 YARD FROM TOUCHDOWN. PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITH MINIMAL INJURY AND SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA15LA205](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA15LA205), May 5, 2015: Jerome D Fischer RV-7 (N364SJ), Bartow, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's use of the improper fuel grade for the engine, which resulted in detonation, engine damage, and loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
