## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N3378K WAS TAXING TO THE RUN UP AREA PRIOR TO DEPARTURE FROM WHITEMAN AIRPORT. WHILE ENTERING THE RUN-UP AREA, GROUND CONTROL CALLED AND ISSUED A TRANSPONDER CODE. THE PILOT LOOKED DOWN TO ENTER THE CODE IN THE TRANSPONDER, WHEN HE LOOKED UP HE NOTICED AN AIRCRAFT IN THE RUN-UP AREA. THE PILOT BRAKED HARD TO AVOID HITTING THE OTHER AIRCRAFT. N3378K NOSED OVER AS A RESULT OF THE HARD BRAKING. THE PROPELLER AND THE LOWER ENGINE COWL CONTACTED THE GROUND. BOTH THE PROPELLER AND THE ENGINE COWL WERE DAMAGE BY THE GROUND CONTACT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
