## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT 1430 MDT (2030 UTC), SUNDAY, MAY 10, 2015 A GROB 102 ASTIR (N7497) OPERATING UNDER 14 CFR PART 91 ENCOUNTERED SINKING AIR WHILE APPROACHING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 16 AT THE WHITE SANDS REGIONAL AIRPORT (KALM), ALAMOGORDO, NM. THE COMMERCIALLY RATED PILOT STATED SINKING AIR CAUSED THE GLIDER TO DROP BELOW ITS NORMAL GLIDE PATH AND STRIKE A POWER LINE THAT CROSSED THE FINAL APPROACH TO THE RUNWAY. THE POWER LINE WAS SEVERED BY THE GILDER AND THE AIRCRAFT LANDED NORMALLY. VFR CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED FOR THIS PLEASURE FLIGHT, WHICH ORIGINATED AT THE WHITE SANDS REGIONAL AIRPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
