## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT ARRIVED AT LAKE ANNA CONTRARY CREEK AREA AND MADE TWO LEFT HAND PATTERNS IN PREPARATION FOR WATER LANDING TO THE SSW (ALONG THE LONG AXIS OF THE BODY OF WATER). PILOT SET UP FOR LANDING FOLLOWING THE WAKE OF A BOAT AHEAD OF HIM. AS HE LANDED HE HIT A WAKE AND BOUNCED, THEN SETTLED DOWN ON THE WATER A SECOND TIME. HE THEN HIT A LARGE DIAGONAL WAKE, THE RIGHT SPONSON DUG INTO THE WAKE, WAS RIPPED OFF, AND THEN SPUN THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RIGHT WHERE IT HIT, RAN UP ONTO, AND THEN CAME TO REST ON THE DOCK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA078](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA078), May 16, 2015: Consolidated Aeronautics Lake LA4-200 (N1105L), Mineral, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during a high-speed water taxi in rough water conditions, resulting in a collision with a dock.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
