## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE APPROPRIATELY ENDORSED STUDENT PILOT WAS ON HIS SECOND SUPERVISED SOLO FLIGHT, MAKING HIS SECOND SOLO LANDING ON THIS DAY. DURING THE LANDING FLARE THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED TO THE LEFT. THE PILOT ADDED FULL POWER WITH INSUFFICIENT RIGHT PEDAL TO CORRECT FOR THE TURNING TENDENCY, AND THE AIRCRAFT SLEWED 90 DEGREES TO THE RUNWAY HEADING.

THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY SURFACE, STRIKING THE SOFT, MUDDY GROUND JUST SHORT OF THE RAMP, CAUSING THE NOSE WHEEL TO IMPACT THE EDGE OF THE CONCRETE. THIS COLLAPSED THE NOSE GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT THEN SLID ACROSS THE RAMP AND CAME TO REST IN THE GRASS JUST OFF THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RAMP.

THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AND THE PILOT WAS UNINJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA077](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA077), May 17, 2015: Cessna 150M (N8634U), Wellington, KS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's improper flare and loss of control which resulted in a hard landing.

## Other reports on N8634U (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19870313040649I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19870313040649I), Mar 13, 1987: Cessna 150M (N8634U), Salina, KS, Minor damage. Engine ran rough and quit with carburetor heat application after descent to pattern. Landed short of runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
