## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT REPORTED DURING CRUISE FLIGHT, THAT THE ENGINE RPM COULD NOT BE CONTROLLED WITH PROPELLER CONTROLS AND THEN LOW OIL PRESSURE INDICATION, PILOT RETARDED THROTTLE, AND THEN THE ENGINE STARTED SHAKING AND HEARD LOUD NOISE FROM ENGINE AND THEN THE ENGINE FAILED. PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY BUT COULD NOT MAKE THE NEAREST AIRPORT AND MADE AN OFF AIRPORT LANDING WITH NO DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT OR INJURIES TO THE PILOT. PILOT PULLED THE TOP ENGINE COWLING AND THERE WAS A 2 INCH HOLE IN THE AFT LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE CRANKCASE. WAITING FOR AN ENGINE TEAR DOWN REPORT FROM THE OWNER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
