## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT OF AN EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT, "KITFOX", MADE A LANDING ON HIS PRIVATELY OWNED FIELD. DURING ROLLOUT, HE APPLIED EXCESSIVE BRAKING CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO ROLL FORWARD, OVER ON ITS BACK. ON EXITING THE AIRCRAFT THE PILOT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES BY BUMPING HIS HEAD ON THE FUSELAGE WINDSHIELD STRUCTURE. PILOT WENT TO THE HOSPITAL TO BE CHECKED OUT AND WAS RELEASED WITH NO APPARENT NEED FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION.

AIRCRAFT DAMAGE WAS QUANTIFIED AS SUBSTANTIAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA087](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA087), May 22, 2015: Smith Vilas Kitfox (N4100T), McLeansboro, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain attitude control during the landing roll. A contributing factor was the pilot's lack of training and experience in this airplane make and model.

## Other reports on N4100T (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19931220049439I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19931220049439I), Dec 20, 1993: Amtrdf KITFOX (N4100T), Rossville, KS, Minor damage. Throttle cable broke. Damage to wheel struts and propeller. Some damage to fuselage.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
