## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DEPARTED FREDERICKTOWN AIRPORT (H88) AROUND 1100 FOR A RECREATIONAL FLIGHT TO FARMINGTON, MO. HE STATED THAT AROUND 1130 HE REALIZED HE HAD SOMEHOW GOT LOST AND HE WAS CONFUSED ON WHERE HE WAS. HE NOTICED THAT HIS FUEL WAS LOW, SO HE STARTED LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO LAND. HE WAS ABLE TO LAND, WITH FUEL IN THE TANKS, IN AN OPEN FIELD WITH GRASS ABOUT TWO FEET TALL. HE STATED THAT HE CAME IN FAST (70 TO 80 KNOTS) AND THAT WHEN THE NOSE LANDING GEAR HIT, IT FLIPPED THE AIRCRAFT OVER. THE INITIAL CONTACT WITH THE GROUND AND THE LOCATION WHERE THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER WERE APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET APART.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA091](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA091), May 23, 2015: Lefever Paul M RV12 (N198PR), Caledonia, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's selection of unsuitable terrain for a precautionary landing, which resulted in a nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
