## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 26, 2015, AT 2337 CDT, A CESSNA 182 BEARING REGISTRATION NUMBER N4645T, WAS ENROUTE AT 9,000 FEET MEAN SEA LEVEL (MSL) FROM SCOTTSBLUFF, NE TO LUBBOCK, TX. APPROXIMATELY 70 MILES NORTH OF LUBBOCK, TX, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND THE PILOT COMMENCED AN EMERGENCY LANDING INTO A FLAT WHEAT FIELD. BEFORE TOUCHDOWN, THE PILOT NOTICED A TELEPHONE POLE AND POINTED THE NOSE DOWN TO GO UNDER THE WIRES. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN BEFORE THE WIRES INTO A WHEAT FIELD, CROSSED A HIGHWAY, AND WENT INTO ANOTHER FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT NOSE DUG INTO THE DIRT, AND THE LEFT WING TIP HIT THE GROUND, AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER COMING TO REST UP-SIDE-DOWN. THE AIRCRAFT WAS BEING OPERATED ON A PERSONAL FLIGHT. VISUAL METEROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME, AND A IFR FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED, AND THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. NO PASSENGERS WERE ABOARD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN15LA243](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN15LA243), May 27, 2015: Cessna TR182 (N4645T), Tulia, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The partial loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined because postaccident examination of the engine revealed no mechanical anomalies that would have precluded normal operation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
