## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 27, 2015, AT APPROXIMATELY 0700, THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF N1965J, A CESSNA C-188 AG WAGON, DURING LANDING ON RUNWAY 8 AT PINE BLUFFS, WY. IT WAS THE END OF A PESTICIDE APPLICATIONS FLIGHT TO AND FROM CHEYENNE.

UPON TOUCHDOWN THE AIRCRAFT VEERED SHARPLY RIGHT, DEPARTED THE RUNWAY, AND IMPACTED A BERM THAT TORE THE UNDERCARRIAGE FROM BENEATH THE

AIRCRAFT.

THE ACCIDENT PILOT REPORTED THE RIGHT TIRE ASSEMBLY SPUN FREELY WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS RAISED BY A LIFT. LIKEWISE THE ONLY SKID MARKS ON THE RUNWAY WERE FROM THE LEFT TIRE. THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS THAT THE RIGHT WHEEL SEIZED WHICH WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE LOSS OF CONTROL.

THE ACCIDENT PILOT HAD ONLY 16 HOURS IN TAIL DRAGGER AIRCRAFT IN THE LAST 5 YEARS. ALL HIS TRAINING AND CHECKS WERE

APPROPRIATELY DOCUMENTED. THE PILOT IS IN THE PROCESS OF REMEDIAL TRAINING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN15LA250](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN15LA250), May 27, 2015: Cessna T188C (N1965J), Pine Bluffs, WY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of directional control to the right for reasons that could not be determined during examination of the right main landing gear wheel and brake drum.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
