## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 5/28/2015 AT APPROXIMATELY 12:00 PM THE SOLO STUDENT PILOT LANDING AT MEADVILLE (KGKJ) AIRPORT BOUNCED THE AIRCRAFT 2 TIMES WHILE LANDING ON RUNWAY 25. THE AIRCRAFT NOSE-WHEEL TIRE WAS DEFLATED DUE TO THE BOUNCE ON THE RUNWAY. THE TIRE SEPARATED FROM THE RIM WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WAS TAXIED OFF THE RUNWAY ON THE DEFLATED TIRE. THE STUDENT PILOT CONTACTED HIS FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR (AT MOORE AVIATION) TO REPORT THE FLAT TIRE. MOORE AVIATION DISPATCHED A MECHANIC TO REPLACE THE TIRE/RIM ASSEMBLY. THE TIRE/RIM ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED AND THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED MEADVILLE AIRPORT AT APPROXIMATELY 1400 FOR BEAVER COUNTY AIRPORT AND LANDED THERE WITHOUT FUTHER INCIDENT.

HOWEVER ON THE NEXT SCHEDULED FLIGHT OF THE SAME DAY IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE PROPELLER HAD BLADE TIP DAMAGE FROM STRIKING A HARD SURFACE. A DETAILED INSPECTION REVEALED FURTHER SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE NOSE GEAR HOUSING FRAME, WITH ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO THE FIREWALL. THE INCIDENT IS NOW CLASSIFIED AS AN ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA119](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA119), May 28, 2015: Cessna 172R (N984WU), Beaver Falls, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to maintain airplane attitude control during the landing, resulting in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
