## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE JET AIR AIRCRAFT CAME IN JUNE 10, 2015 FROM BURLINGTON, IA FOR A 50 HR. INSPECTION AT THE GALESBURG AIRPORT. UPON INSPECTING THE ENGINE, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE LOWER FIREWALL WAS DAMAGED. NO DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE OR PROPELLER OR ANY OTHER DAMAGE WAS NOTED TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT.

THE OPERATOR REPORTED THAT NO ONE KNOWS WHO WAS FLYING IT, WHEN THE DAMAGE HAPPENED OR WHERE IT HAPPENED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA161](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA161), Jun 10, 2015: Cessna 172S (N740SP), Galesburg, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: Firewall damage reported by maintenance personnel that occurred during an unknown phase of flight, because the accident flight and pilot could not be determined.
