## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UPON TAKE OFF THE AIRCRAFT LOST POWER AND HAD TO MAKE A HARD RIGHT TURN AND FORCE LANDING INTO A FIELD. NUMEROUS WITNESSES STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS SPUDDERING AND LOOSING POWER. ON SIGHT INSPECTION REVEALED THE AIRCRAFT HAD NO POWER UPON IMPACT. TEAR DOWN INSPECTION BY THE NTSB AND LYCOMING REPRESENTATIVE REVEALED NO MECHANICAL ISSUES. COMMUNICATION WITH THE PILOT HAS NOT BEEN POSSIBLE DUE TO RECOVERY FROM HEAD INJURY SUSTAINED IN THE CRASH. NTSB INVESTIGATION IS ON HOLD UNTIL COMMUNICATION WITH THE PILOT BECOMES AVAILABLE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA15FA241](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA15FA241), Jun 18, 2015: Piper PA-22 (N2569P), Laconia, NH, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined because of insufficient evidence found during postaccident examination of the airframe and engine.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
