## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APPROACH TO POLSON, MT THE PILOT LOST ENGINE POWER. HE MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FIELD 1/2 MILE NORTH OF THE AIRPORT. IN FLIGHT CARBURATOR ICING IS THE LIKELY CAUSE OF THE ENGINE POWER LOSS. PILOT AND 2 PASSENGERS WERE ONBOARD, NO INJURIES. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR15LA191](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR15LA191), Jun 19, 2015: Cessna 180A (N9699B), Polson, MT, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power during approach for reasons that could not be determined because postaccident examination revealed no anomalies that would have precluded normal operation.

## Other reports on N9699B (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19830102000759A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830102000759A), Jan 2, 1983: Cessna 180 (N9699B), Monee, IL, Substantial damage. Lost control landing in a crosswind veered sharply off the runway and nosed over. Pilot unskilled in tailwheel type

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
