## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 20, 2015 AT 1045 CST THE PILOT OF A RV-12, N242VA MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN THE GRASS SOUTH AND NEXT TO RUNWAY 27 AT OSHKOSH WITTMAN AIRPORT (OSH). THE PILOT WAS THE ONLY SOUL ON BOARD AND WAS NOT INJURED. THE PLEASURE FLIGHT ON THAT DAY WAS CONDUCTED IN VISUAL METEROLOGICAL CONDITIONS WITHOUT A FLIGHT PLAN FILED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED WITH THE SEPARATION OF THE NOSE WHEEL ASSEMBLY. THE EMERGENCY LANDING WAS DECLARED AFTER AN ATTEMPTED/GO AROUND LANDING ON A GRASS STRIP RUNWAY 13 AT PIONEER LANDING STRIP WHICH IS WITHIN OSH BOUNDRIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA159](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA159), Jun 20, 2015: Vans RV-12 (N242VA), Oshkosh, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to monitor the airplane's glide path during the final approach, which resulted in a low approach path and impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
