## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS ENROUTE TO THE ANOKA, MN AIRPORT (KANE) WHEN THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND QUIT RUNNING. HE CHECKED THE FUEL AND NOTICED THAT HE HAD NO FUEL IN THE RIGHT TANK AND ONLY ABOUT 3 GALLONS IN THE LEFT TANK.

HE SET UP FOR AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A PLOWED FIELD. PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN, THE PILOT DID NOT RAISE THE GEAR ON THE AMPHIBIOUS FLOATS. THE SOFT MUD CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP ONTO ITS BACK SUSTAINING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA151](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA151), Jun 21, 2015: Flight Design Ctls (N799CT), Andover, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper fuel management and preflight planning, which resulted in the total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion and a forced landing in a field where the airplane nosed over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
