## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT ARRIVED EARLY TO AVOID FORECAST OF HIGH WINDS. UPON ROLLOUT FROM THE LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED WIND SHEAR THAT FORCED A GROUND LOOP THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. SITE VISIT CONCLUDED THE LANDING AREA CONDUCIVE TO WIND SHEAR IN HIGH WIND CONDITIONS DUE TO MECHANICAL INTEFERENCE.

BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT, THE INTERVIEW WITH AND EVALUATION OF THE PILOT'S KNOWLEDGE, CREDENTIALS, AND FAMILIARITY WITH THE PRIVATE FIELD, THE PILOT WAS COUNSELED TO PREVENT RECURRENCE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA132](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA132), Jun 21, 2015: Ervin Rex H Bear Hawk (N939RE), Merrill, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing, which resulted in a ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
