## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 23, 2015 AT APPROXIMATELY 1540 LOCAL TIME, A PRIVATE PILOT WAS INVOLVED IN AN AIRCRAFT INCIDENT WHILE PRACTICING TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS AT THE NEWTON CITY COUNTY AIRPORT (KEWK), NEWTON, KANSAS.

UPON LANDING AND ROLLING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE AIRMAN INITIATED THE RECONFIGURATION OF THE AIRCRAFT FOR THE FINAL TRAFFIC PATTERN; THE SPECIFIC PILOT SCHOOL AUTHORIZES STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC PATTERN OPERATIONS ONLY. ACCORDING TO THE AIRMAN, THE FLAPS WERE RETRACTED TO THE TAKEOFF POSITION, TRIM WAS RESET, THE CARBURETOR HEAT PLACED IN THE COLD POSITION PURSUANT TO THE PILOT SCHOOL?S AFTER LANDING PROCEDURE. PER THE AIRMAN?S VERBAL STATEMENT, THE LANDING GEAR HANDLE WAS INADVERTENTLY SELECTED TO THE UP POSITION. AS THE AIRCRAFT INITIATED ITS TAKEOFF ROLL, THE AIRCRAFT?S LANDING GEAR RETRACTED CAUSING THE PROPELLER TO STRIKE THE RUNWAY SURFACE. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE AS A RESULT OF THE INCIDENT; THE AIRMAN, WHO WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT ON-BOARD, WAS UNINJURED.

VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS (VMC) PREVAILED AT THE AIRPORT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.
