## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE COMMERCIAL PILOT WAS ON A LOCAL FLIGHT, TESTING OUT THE AUTOPILOT. WHILE BEING VECTORED ONTO THE RNAV 36 INSTRUMENT APPROACH INTO THE LINCOLN AIRPORT, THE ENGINE STARTED TO RUN VERY ROUGH. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY AN ENGINE FAILURE, WHICH CAUSED THE PROPELLER TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE ENGINE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE ENGINE OVER WITH THE STARTER ENGAGED. THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRPLANE IN A BEAN FIELD 6 MILES SOUTH OF THE LINCOLN AIRPORT. THE PILOT WAS NOT HURT AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT DAMAGED DURING THE OFF-FIELD LANDING. THERE WAS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE BEAN PLANTS IN THE FIELD.
