## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

CFI WAS CONDUCTING PINNACLE APPROACHES AT HIGH ALTITUDE. CFI INITIATED SHALLOW APPROACH TO PINNACLE AND SLOWED HIS FORWARD AIRSPEED TO MINIMUM AS HELICOPTER WAS ABOUT TO TOUCH DOWN. CFI REALIZED POWER WAS INSUFFICIENT TO CUSHION TOUCH DOWN AND HELICOPTER FELL SHORT OF PLANNED AREA, HIT THE GROUND AND SLIGHTLY BOUNCED WITH A LITTLE FORWARD MOMENTUM. ACFT THEN TILTED TO THE LEFT AND ROLLED OVER ON LEFT SIDE AND SLID ABOUT 3 FEET. CFI PULLED MIXED IDLE CUT OFF AND THE ENGINE STOPPED. CFI AND STUDENT GOT OUT OF AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INJURY. CFI THEN NOTIFIED MAUNA LOA MANAGEMENT.
