## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS FLYING FROM WILLINGTON, TN TO SHEBOYGAN WI IN A POWERED GLIDER "VFR ON-TOP" . OVER SHELYVILLE IL THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND THE PILOT SAID HE SAW A HOLE AND DECIDED TO LAND. HE WAS NOT SURE ABOUT THE LAYOUT OF THE AIRPORT AND WAS FLYING OVER THE AIRPORT LOOKING FOR A WINDSOCK. PILOT FEATHERED THE PROP AT 300' AND ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 36. THE GLIDER WAS HIGH AND FAST AND PILOT LANDED OFF THE FAR END OF THE RUNWAY IN THE CORNFIELD.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
