## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 9, 2015 AT 6:30 PM THE PILOT PROCEEDED TO RUNWAY 1 AT BURLINGTON, WI AIRPORT FOR TAKEOFF. WINDS WERE LIGHT AND VARIABLE AND SKY'S WERE CLEAR. PILOT PROCEEDED TO TAKEOFF WITH THE INTENTION OF PRACTICING WHEEL LANDINGS. THE FIRST WHEEL LANDING WAS A SUCCESS. ON THE SECOND WHEEL LANDING THE PILOT TOUCHED DOWN A BIT HARD AND NOTED THAT THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT BOUNCE. THE PILOT APPLIED GENTLE FORWARD PRESSURE ON THE STICK THEN FELT THE PROPELLER STRIKE GROUND AND PULLED BACK ON STICK. AIRCRAFT PITCHED DOWN AND PILOT RODE OUT THE INCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA180](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA180), Jul 9, 2015: Pietenpol AIR Camper (N29NX), Burlington, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to maintain pitch control during the landing touchdown, resulting in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
