## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT DEPARTED 22WY AT 0800 LOCAL ON JULY 22, 2015 IN N3344Y (CESSNA 182E). APPROXIMATELY ONE MILE SOUTH AT 1000 AGL, THE PILOT EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE FAILURE. THE PILOT TURNED NORTH BACK TOWARDS 22WY AND ESTABLISHED GLIDE SPEED. DUE TO THE EMERGENCY LANDING, THE PILOT WASN'T ABLE TO LINEUP DIRECTLY WITH THE RUNWAY. HE TOUCHED DOWN 50 FEET EAST OF THE RUNWAY AND HALFWAY DOWN. ON TOUCHDOWN, THE PLANE ROLLED DOWN A HILL AND THROUGH A DRAINAGE DITCH WITH CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN15LA319](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN15LA319), Jul 22, 2015: Cessna 182E (N3344Y), Rozet, WY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined because an examination of the engine did not reveal any anomalies that would have precluded normal operation.

## Other reports on N3344Y (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 20060804014559A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20060804014559A), Aug 4, 2006: Cessna 182E (N3344Y), Roset, WY, Substantial damage. (-23) Gust of wind on landing. Aircraft started porpoising and pilot lost control hitting hard on nose gear.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
