## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 4, 2015, N611CK A SH-3 HELICOPTER STRUCK A TREE WHILE CONDUCTING FIREFIGHTING OPERATIONS. THE AIRCRAFT DESCENDED INTO A CONFINED AREA TO PICK UP WATER WITH ITS SNORKEL. NONE OF THE PILOTS ON BOARD HAD SEEN THE TREE IN THEIR FINAL APPROACH . THE ROTOR BLADES STRUCK THE TREE AT THE 5 O?CLOCK POSITION. THE PILOTS FELT A SHUTTER AND RECOGNIZED THEY HAD HIT A TREE. THEY ABORTED THE APPROACH TO THE WATER AND FOUND A PLACE TO LAND SAFELY AWAY FOR THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED BY THE PILOTS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
