## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT DEPARTED THE BROOKFIELD AIRPORT (MO8) INTENDING TO FLY TO THE CHILLICOTHE AIRPORT (KCHT) AND BACK. PRIOR TO DEPARTURE THE PILOT DID NOT CHECK THE FUEL TANKS, BUT INSTEAD MADE A DECISION TO DEPART WITH THE FUEL LEVEL OBSERVED ON THE FUEL GAUGES IN THE COCKPIT. ON THE RETURN LEG FROM KCHT BACK TO MO8, THE AIRCRAFT RAN OUT OF FUEL AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT IN A FIELD SHORT OF THE RUNWAY AND, BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, COLLIDED WITH A FENCE.
