## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, HE TOOK OFF FROM KSKI AND DURING THE CLIMB THE AIRCRAFT PERFORMANCE DETERIORATED AT APPROXIMATELY 150 AGL. THE INSTRUMENTS WERE READING NORMALLY, BUT THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT PRODUCING NORMAL POWER, MAKING THE AIRCRAFT UNABLE TO CLIMB. THE PILOT STATED THAT POWER WAS INTERMITTENT UNTIL IMPACT WITH THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED A CORN FIELD IN WHAT APPEARED TO BE A LEFT WING LOW ATTITUDE AND FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN. THE PILOT STATED HE FELT THE AIRCRAFT MAY NOT HAVE LOST ALTITUDE, BUT THE RISING TERRAIN CAUSED THE IMPACT. HE ALSO STATED THE AIRCRAFT HAD A "BLOWER" SYSTEM AND BELIEVES THE REASON FOR THE LOSS OF POWER MAY BE DUE TO A FAILURE OF THE BLOWER FAN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN15LA377](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN15LA377), Aug 12, 2015: Grumman G 164B (N311AL), Sac City, IA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined based on the available information.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
