## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PIC SAID AFTER TAKEOFF HE BROUGHT THE GEAR HANDLE UP AND COULD HEAR THE GEAR PUMP SPINNING AT A VERY FAST RATE. THE PIC SAID HE PULLED THE CIRCUIT BREAK FOR THE LANDING GEAR BECAUSE HE WAS AFRAID IT WOULD GET TOO HOT AND CATCH FIRE. THE PIC FLEW BY THE TOWER AND TOWER WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THE GEAR WAS PARTIALLY RETRACTED. THE PIC DECIDED TO LAND ON THE FLOATS ON THE HARD SURFACE RUNWAY. MINIMAL DAMAGE WAS ON THE FLOAT RAILS. IT WAS DETERMINE THE DRIVE SHAFT IN THE GEAR MOTOR SHEARED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
