## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT WITH 2 PASSENGERS ON BOARD ON THE GRASS LANDING STRIP. DURING THE LANDING THE AIRCRAFT DRIFTED LEFT INTO THE TALL GRASS AREA OFF THE GRASS STRIP AND ENCOUNTERED ROUGH GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO TURN SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT IN THE TALL GRASS AND THE RIGHT WHEEL MADE A DEEP GROUND IMPRESSION UNTIL THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP. DURING THE SHARP RIGHT TURN THE AIRCRAFT PITCHED HARD TO THE RIGHT CAUSING THE RIGHT WING, RIGHT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER AND RIGHT ELEVATOR TO IMPACT THE GROUND CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA246](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA246), Aug 30, 2015: Cessna 170A (N112RP), New Milford, CT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of directional control during the landing roll which resulted in a runway excursion and impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
