## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT TOOK OFF RUNWAY 19, AND AT APPROXIMATELY 50 FT ABOVE GROUND LEVEL THE ENGINE QUIT. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED A RESTART AND THE ENGINE MOMENTARILY RESTARTED FOR 2 OR 3 SECONDS THEN LOST POWER BEFORE GOING INTO THE CORNFIELD AT THE SOUTH END OF THE RUNWAY.

DDG FLM CMH: PERFORMED INITIAL INVESTIGATION, PILOT INDICATED HE HAD FULL FUEL (10) GAL WHICH WAS VERIFIED. OWNER HAD RECENTLY CHANGED THE CARBURATOR BUT IT HAD NOT FLOWN YET. POSSIBLE CAUSE DUE TO A VERY HOT/HUMID DAY WHICH MAY HAVE LED TO CARBURETOR ICING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN15LA391](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN15LA391), Aug 31, 2015: Ference John W Thatcher CX4A (N443JF), Hebron, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined because a postaccident examination of the airframe and engine did not reveal any anomalies that would have precluded normal operation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
