## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST IN A CORN FIELD APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES SOUTHEAST FROM THE JEROME, ID AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT CAME IN AT A RELATIVELY LOW ANGLE THAT IS SEEN FROM THE PATH THE AIRCRAFT CUT IN THE CORN. THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN 5 MAIN PIECES THAT APPEAR TO HAVE SEPARATED UPON IMPACT. THE COCKPIT, EACH WING, TAIL SECTION, AND ENGINE WERE ALL FOUND BUT IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. THE FIRST CONTACT WITH THE GROUND WAS THE LEFT WING, WHICH WAS FOUND IN PIECES NEAR THE IMPACT SITE. THE ENGINE WAS SEPARATED AND TRAVELED SLIGHTLY RIGHT OF THE PATH OF THE COCKPIT. THE TAIL SECTION WAS FOUND NEAR THE IMPACT SITE. THE COCKPIT AND RIGHT WING WERE FOUND SLIGHTLY LEFT OF THE COURSE OF THE ENGINE. THE COCKPIT WAS FOUND UPRIGHT. THE CANOPY WAS DESTROYED, WITH THE CANOPY LEVER LATCHED CLOSED. THE CONTINUITY TO THE FLIGHT CONTROLS WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS STILL FUNCTIONING AND THE TOTAL TACH TIME WAS ABLE TO BE RECORDED.

THE PILOT WAS FOUND WEARING HIS SEATBELT AND WAS ABLE TO HELP FIRST RESPONDERS GET HIM OUT OF THE COCKPIT. THE PILOT HAD SERIOUS INJURIES TO THE FACE AND ALSO HAD COMPRESSION FRACTURES TO THE SPINE. THE PILOT CANNOT REMEMBER ANYTHING BACK PRIOR TO TAKING OFF FROM THE AIRPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR15LA255](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR15LA255), Sep 2, 2015: Extra Flugzeugbau EA 300/L (N4BM), Jerome, ID, destroyed. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from terrain while conducting a low-altitude aerobatic maneuver.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
