## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DESCENT INTO NRT, WHILE ON VECTORS, CALA 196 EXPERIENCED TURBULENCE. ACCORDING TO A REPORT SUBMITTED TO CALA BY CAPTAIN ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, THERE WERE NO PRIOR INDICATIONS THAT THERE WOULD BE ANY TURBULENCE IN THE DESCENT. HE STATED THERE WERE NO PIREPS, NO ATC WEATHER ADVISORIES NOR ANY FORECAST TURBULENCE REPORTED. INITIALLY WHEN THE FIRST OFFICER CALLED THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS TO CHECK THEIR STATUS, HE WAS ADVISED THEY WERE OKAY BUT WERE LATER ADVISED THAT A FLIGHT ATTENDANT WAS INJURED IN THE AFT GALLEY. THE LANDING WAS UNEVENTFUL AND A MEDICAL TEAM MET THE AIRCRAFT UPON ARRIVAL AT THE GATE. FLIGHT ATTENDANT HIROMI HOSHINO WAS TRANSPORTED TO NARITA RED CROSS HOSPITAL WITH A POSSIBLE BROKEN HIP. NO CUSTOMERS DECLARED ANY INJURIES ACCORDING TO A CUSTOMER SERVICE REPORT. ALL WERE SEATED WITH THEIR SEATBELTS FASTENED. A REPORT SUBMITTED BY FA YASUYO LACUATA STATED THE FLIGHT DECK HAD TURNED ON THE SEATBELT SIGN AND THE INITIAL DESCENT ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE PRIOR TO THE TURBULENCE.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
