THE ACCIDENT AIRPLANE HAD DEPARTED SARASOTA/BRADENTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (SRQ) AT APPROXIMATELY 08:19 ON A FLIGHT PLAN TO PIEDMONT TRIAD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KGSO). THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED AT VULCAN QUARRY AT 2866 NC HWY 66, KERNERSVILLE, NC 27284. THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED IN A FLAT AREA WITH NO GROUND SCARRING. THE DEBRIS FIELD WAS VERY CONTAINED WITH ALL MAJOR AIRCRAFT PARTS LOCATED WITHIN AN APPROXIMATE 75? RADIUS. THE POST-CRASH FIRE CONSUMED ALL OF THE AIRCRAFT EXCEPT FOR THE AFT PORTION OF THE EMPENNAGE. BOTH WINGS DISPLAY EVIDENCE OF FIRE IN THE AREA OF THE FUEL TANKS. REVIEW OF THE ATC TAPES SHOW THAT THE PILOT WAS NOT MAINTAINING ASSIGNED HEADINGS OR ALTITUDES AND THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS ?CLOSE TO DISORIENTED?.

THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND AT A HIGH ANGLE WITH LITTLE TO NO FORWARD MOVEMENT ON A NORTH NORTHEAST HEADING.
