## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH AND THE RPM DROPPED TO 1500 IN CRUISE FLIGHT SO THE PILOT CIRCLED OPEN FIELDS AND WHEN HE COULDN'T KEEP SUFFICIENT ALTITUDE HE MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET BEFORE FLIPPING AND COMING TO REST UPSIDE DOWN IN THE FIELD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN15LA414](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN15LA414), Sep 16, 2015: Cessna 172P (N65191), Nutwood, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: A partial loss of engine power due to the undetected loosening of the four carburetor bolts that connect the throttle body to the bowl assembly.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
