## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC WAS ON TAKE-OFF ROLL. AT THE POINT OF ROTATION AND A SPEED OF APPX 45 MPH, THE AIRCRAFT STOPPED GAINING ALTITUDE. WIND FLAGS BESIDE THE GRAVEL BAR INDICATED THAT THE WIND HAD SWITCHED FROM A HEAD WIND TO A TAIL WIND. PIC TRIED TO GAIN SOME ALTITUDE TO MISS AN EMBANKMENT. PIC MADE A SLIGHT LEFT TURN TO AVOID TREES AND AN EMBANKMENT, L/H LANDING GEAR STRUCK A RAISED PORTION OF GROUND AND L/H WING STRUCK A CUT BANK. L/H WING SEPERATED FROM FUSELAGE, L/H LANDING GEAR AND GEAR BOX SEPERATED FROM FUSELAGE, TAIL PORTION OF FUSELAGE IS INTACT BUT SKIN IS SPLIT LATERALY. TAIL VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL STABILIZERS ARE OK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB GAA15CA282](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/GAA15CA282), Sep 24, 2015: Cessna 170B (N2528C), Arctic Village, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot exceeded the critical angle of attack during takeoff, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall and a collision with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
